Aston brings back the DB4 GT

With the original 75 Aston Martin DB4 GT's easily fetching upwards of $3.5 Million regularly at auctions, the British sports car marque has decided to bring back the racing pedigree of this stunning machine by making another 25. Launched in 1959, only eight of the original 75 were built to "lightweight" specification, making them the rare (and thus more valuable) version. Using the original blueprints for the lightweight track spec DB4 GT, Aston plans to sell the "new" ones as a way to raise some funds while reminding the world of their storied motorsport heritage. They'll continue the original chassis numbering as well, making sure the bloodline remains unbroken.

Along with the car, Aston has set up a "arrive and drive" experience at some of the best tracks around the world, including the Yas Marina circuit at Abu Dhabi. They'll have Le Mans winning driver Darren Turner along with Aston's own driving instructors on hand, so that customers can properly handle race cars from a time when it was "more art than a science". With all the retro craze of recent years, here's hoping Lamborghini makes some "new" Miuras.
