Seminar on Medical Physics at Gono University

International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) started celebrating November 7 as the International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) -- an annual event observed in 80 organisations and countries under IOMP. The announcement came on the occasion of 50th anniversary of IOMP in 2013. On that day in 1867, Marie Sklodowska-Curie -- known for pioneering research on radioactivity -- was born in Poland. The day is selected to honour her works. The aim of IDMP is to generate awareness on the importance of medical physicists in the clinical environment as well as in clinical research, and development of sophisticated medical technology. The theme of IDMP-2013 is “Radiation Exposure from Medical Procedures: Ask the Medical Physicist!”
Bangladesh Medical Physics Society (BMPS) and the Department of Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering (MPBME) arranged a seminar at Gono Bishwabidyalay (University) recently. Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Gono University was the chief guest and Professor Dr. Sk. Golam Mostofa, Director of National Institute of Cancer Research & Hospital (NICRH), was present as special guest. Kumaresh Chandra Paul, President (acting) BMPS, presided over the seminar, while Md Aktaruzzaamn, Secretary of BMPS, delivered the welcome speech.
