Pro-hartal activists stab dead Jubo League man

A Jubo League activist was stabbed to death and 10 injured in a clash with the activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami during hartal in Bholahat upazila of Chapainawabganj Thursday.

Shaheed Suhrawardi, officer-in-charge of Bholahat Police Station, confirmed the death of Abdur Rahman, 26, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent.

Bringing out a procession from Musribhoja village, pickets torched four shops and vandalised two motorcycles at Poladanga village around 10:30am.

The clash erupted when supporters of local Awami League and its associate bodies tried to resist the marauding activists, locals said.

BNP-Jamaat men were equipped with sharp weapons and sticks during the clash that left 11 people, including Rahman, injured.

Rahman, son of Daud Hossain of Poladanga village, died on way to Bholahat Upazila Health Complex.
