Plainclothed police arrest two RU students in fraud case

Policemen is plainclothes have arrested two students of Rajshahi University from a private dormitory in the city's Chalkpara area.

Rafiqul Alam, deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, confirmed to The Daily Star that a team from CTTC of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the two on Sunday in a fraud case and produced them before a Dhaka court yesterday.

Both Shakib Khan and Rezwan Ahmed are students of the university's fine arts faculty.

According to Rezwan's brother Merajul Islam, the brothers went together to the dormitory from their Jashore residence on Saturday night.

On their way, Shakib joined them from Natore.

Merajul said his brother and Shakib were detained by six people on Sunday morning. At that time, they neither revealed their identity nor any information about the detention.

When contacted, Chandrima Police Station Officer-in-Charge Emran Ali said they are unaware of the incident, but they recorded a GD in this regard.

However, RU Proctor Asabul Haque told reporters that police told him that a law enforcement agency's team from Dhaka, which was investigating a bKash fraud case, picked them up and took them to Dhaka.
