Mita Haq performs today at IGCC

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in association with the State Bank of India in Bangladesh and Channel i as Media Partners is organising an evening of Rabindra Sangeet by one of Bangladesh's most prominent exponents, Mita Haq. The solo musical soiree will begin at 6pm today (September 12) at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Gulshan-1 in the capital.
The artiste will perform an array of songs from various Parjaye including Puja, Prem, Prokriti and Bichitra, composed by Kobiguru Rabindranath Tagore.
For more than three decades, Mita Haq has been enthralling audiences worldwide with her rendition of Tagore songs that has won her applause from music lovers of all shades and forms. Born in 1962, Mita Haq received training from maestros such as Late Waheedul Haq, Sanjida Khatun and Ustad Mohammad Hossain Khan. She has been a regular performer in the Bangladesh Television and radio since 1977. At present, she is the Highest Grade (Bishesh) artist of the Bangladesh Betar and Radio. Mita Haq has 14 solo musical albums released from HMV and Visva Bharati Music Board, India and 10 musical albums released in Bangladesh.
Mita Haq participated in the Berlin International Youth Festival in 1974 and since then, has travelled to India, USA, Canada, United Kingdom, and Vietnam for musical performances.
The artiste is the founder director and teacher of the music training and performance group, “Shurotirtha” and is the head of the department of Rabindra Sangeet at Chhayanaut in Dhaka. She is also the former general secretary and incumbent vice-president of “Rabindra Sangeet Shammilan Parishad”.
