Hasina, Malaysian PM unveil plaque

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her Malaysian counterpart Mohammad Najib Razak, and her sister Sheikh Rehana laid the foundation stone of a 250-bed hospital and nursing college in Kashimpur of Gazipur yesterday.
They unveiled the plaque of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialised Hospital and Nursing College at a ceremony.
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Malaysian premier, Enamul Haque Mostafa Shaheed, social welfare minister, AFM Ruhal Haque, health minister, and Dr Syed Modasser Ali, Hasina's health and social welfare adviser, among others, were present.
Sheikh Hasina, addressing the function, termed poverty the main enemy of the region and sought strong regional cooperation in eradicating poverty and freeing people from this menace.
The premier termed Malaysia a great friend of Bangladesh and said the two countries' relations in trade and investment sectors are becoming stronger daily.
She added that Malaysia is the third biggest importer of Bangladeshi goods.
Hasina mentioned that with sincere cooperation from the Malaysian government, Bangladesh resumed exporting manpower there.
Regarding Malaysian investment in Bangladesh, Hasina said Malaysian investors have already invested in Bangladesh's ICT and telecommunication sectors and there is further scope for investment.
The hospital is being built under the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust.
