Govt won't be allowed to implement CHT accord: B Chy

Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Prof A Q M Badruddoza Chowdhury yesterday threatened to foil the government efforts to implement the CHT accord, reports UNB.

"We will not allow the government to implement the unconstitutional accord ... we will thwart it at any cost," he said.

Badruddoza Chowdhury was addressing a discussion meeting organised by Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal at its central office, marking the Asad Day.

He said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will announce fresh agitation programmes against the government after Eid-ul-Fitr and we are determined to make the programmes an allout success.

The BNP leader observed that the secessionists, are being inspired and movement like "Bangabhumi Andalon" will get momentum with the signing of the accord.

He alleged that the Awami League does not believe in the sovereignty and independence of the country as it "sacrificed the interest of the country" while signing the accord.

Turning to the 1969 mass upsurge, the Deputy Leader of the Opposition said Asad had embraced martyrdom for establishing democracy in the country and his supreme sacrifice will always inspire the nation in marching forward the democracy.

He urged the BNP leaders and workers and its front organisations for making the movement to be launched after Eid a success, imbued with the spirit of Asad.

Chaired by Krishak Dal acting president Mahbubul Haq Tara, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Shamsuzzaman Dudu MP, Ehsanul Kabir, Mofiqul Hassan Tripti, Jamaluddin Khan Milon, M A Taher and Shajahan Mia Samrat.
