Anti-Islam Comments

Govt to watch social media

The government yesterday formed a nine-member committee to find out those making objectionable comments against Islam and Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) using facebook and blogs.
“The committee, headed by Additional Secretary of the Home Ministry Mainuddin Khandakar, was formed at the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," said PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad.
"It'll start work very soon,” he said, adding that the home ministry would take necessary lawful actions on the basis of information and recommendations of the committee.
Azad also said the committee could take help from any expert and give secretarial support to the home ministry.
The committee would inform the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of the information it will receive and the activities it will undertake.
The members of the committee are representatives of the PMO, BTRC, law and judicial department, information ministry, religious affairs ministry, directors general of NSI and DGFI and the additional DIG (special branch).
