Gonojagoron Mancha brings out stick procession

The Gonojagoron Mancha yesterday brought out a stick procession in the capital reiterating their demands for handing down capital punishment to war criminals, and banning the politics of Jamaat-Shibir.
Starting from Shahbagh in the morning, the scheduled procession marched through Katabon, Nilkhet areas, and Dhaka University campus before returning to the inception point.
The Shahbagh intersection was abuzz with slogans throughout the day. The number of people swelled as the day went on.
Around 5:30pm, Imran H Sarker, spokesperson of the Gonojagoron Mancha, unveiled the first edition of "The Gonojagoron", a four-page weekly bulletin, to reach out to the masses with their demands and programmes.
The bulletin, available at Gonojagoron Mancha media cell at a cost of Tk 20, included their programmes, reasons behind their demands, and also their activities, Imran said.
Later, cultural activists rendered songs, recited poems at a stage to revive the spirit of 1971.
Maruf Rosul, one of the key organisers of the movement, said, the cultural programme would go on throughout the night.
Meanwhile, the BCL activists took position at different points of the DU campus in the evening following the explosion of two cocktails around 3:30pm, some 50 yards from Madhu's canteen.
DU Proctor Amzad Ali said the university authority had handed over suspect Shamol, former student of the university, to police.
Bangaldesh Chhatra Songram Parishad brought out another stick rally on the campus protesting Khaleda Zia's 48-hour ultimatum announced at a rally on May 4.
