Angry over the deaths in Savar building collapse, hundreds of garment workers staged demonstration and blockaded a road in the city's Mirpur Saturday morning.

The workers gathered at Mirpur-10 roundabout around 8:30am and kept the intersection blockaded for half an hour.

Vehicular movement on the adjacent thoroughfares was disrupted following the blockade, said Kazi Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge of Kafrul Police Station.

Police negotiated with the workers and freed the road around 9:00am, he added.

Thousands of garment workers on Friday vented their anger on vehicles in and around the capital leaving the public transport system on the brink of a collapse.

They vandalised at least 160 vehicles in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj.
