Decision on M'sia proposal in a week: Muhith
The government will release a statement in a week on whether to accept Malaysia’s proposal to build the Padma bridge, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said on Saturday.
The minister disclosed this at a pre-budget meeting with the editors of different national dailies and electronic media at his ministry in the afternoon.
Muhith also said government will allocate Tk 6,852 crore in the upcoming budget for the construction of Padma bridge.
Total Tk 1,005 crore have been allocated for the project during the current fiscal year, he said, adding Tk 2,300 crore have already been spent for the much-talked-about project.
Malaysia is awaiting a formal response from the Bangladesh government about its $2.3 billion investment proposal to build the Padma bridge.
