Use public money for quality education

UGC chairman tells Rangamati workshop

“Use public money to ensure quality education,” said University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan at a programme yesterday.

He said this while inaugurating a workshop titled 'Annual Performance Management: Bangladesh Perspective' at the hall room of Rangamati Parjatan Corporation as the chief guest.

During his inaugural speech, Prof Mannan said, “The government provides millions of taka as subsidy for the public universities every year and we should be careful that it is not wasted.”

“Rangamati Science and Technology University (RMSTU) has already achieved goodwill and to continue the success general people, local administration and the university authority will have to work together,” Prof Mannan said.

Anjan Kumar Chakma, registrar of RMSTU, presided over the function while UGC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Shaheen Siraj, Additional Secretary for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Zakia Parvin and RMSTU Vice-Chancellor Dr Pradanendu Bikash Chakma were present as special guests.
