Jeweller's looted in Gaibandha

A gang of criminals looted cash and valuables from a gold and antiques shop at station road in the municipal area on Monday night.

Police said the gang entered GP Gold and beat up owner Utpal Karmoker and threatened to kill him. They looted Tk 60,000 in cash and gold and antiques worth Tk 1 lakh.

The gang had been demanding toll from him for the last few months, Utpal said. As he refused to pay any toll, they vandalised his shop and looted cash and valuables after beating him, he added.

A case was filed with Gaibandha Sadar Police Station accusing seven people, including Alif Mia, Shuvo Mia and Nayon Mia.
