Duck farmer stabbed to death

A duck farmer was hacked to death by a gang of unidentified criminals in Lakhai upazila of Habiganj on Tuesday.

The deceased was Kadir Mia of Husainpur village.

Police and locals said Kadir had a duck farm in Khaliuri Haor. Recently, he had a dispute with Shafik Mia over ownership of a road going to his farm.

A group of 20-25 people hacked Kadir with sharp weapons on Tuesday night, when he was asleep in his farm. Kadir tried to go to his younger brother Sofu Mia's house but died on the way.

Lakhai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Emran Hossain said Kadir's body was found near his farm.

He said there was a dispute over land between Kadir and Shafik and the matter is under investigation.
