Authorities today set up a central control room in Dhaka to ensure smooth traffic for holidaymakers during the journey of Eid-ul-Azha.

Road Transport and Highways Division (RTHD) set up the room. Officials from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Roads and Highways Department, and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation will work jointly from the room.

The control room at BRTA headquarters will remain open round the clock from August 18 to 16, Shishir Kumar Roy, additional secretary (estate) of RTHD, told The Daily Star.

He said the control room will receive information from their monitoring teams across the country and even consider media report to ensure smooth Eid journey.

The control room can be contacted on 9130662 and 01966622019.

Hundreds of thousand people will leave Dhaka within few days to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on August 22. Most of them will be opting to travel on road.
