Teenager injured in clash dies in Dhaka hospital

A teenage boy today succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Dhaka days after he was mercilessly beaten by a group of youths.

Abdul Mannan Munna, 18, a madrasa student, died after his life support was turned off, reports our staff correspondent.

Munna got entangled in an altercation clash with another teenager Mahi at Gabtoli haat on August 21, a day before Eid-ul-Azha, family members said.

Later on that night, Mahi and his associates called Munna from his home in Second Colony area of Dhaka’s Darussalam and they beat him up with cricket stumps and bamboo sticks.

Munna had been admitted to the private hospital since then in critical condition and was placed on life support. He breathed his last on 9:30am today.

A case has been filed in this connection accusing six people, including three unnamed, said Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Darussalam Police Station.

All the accused in the case are absconding, he added.
