Street child hit by vehicle dies

An 11-year-old street child died after a vehicle hit him while crossing the road in the capital's Narda area yesterday.

The vehicle hit the boy, identified as Md Lutfor, around 8:00pm, said Salahuddin Miah, inspector (investigation) of Gulshan Police Station.

On information, police rescued the boy and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor declared him dead around 10:15pm, he said, adding that they were not able to identify the vehicle but are trying to trace it.

Police identified the boy after they showed his photo to other street children in the area, but none of them were able to provide any address or information of his relatives.
