EWU to remain closed for 2 days after attack at Rampura campus

IUB, Brac University announce to defer semester final exams

East West University will remain closed for the next two days, according to a notice of the university.

The notice came after police and stick-wielding youths ganged up on the university’s students at its campus in Dhaka’s Rampura today.  

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the university will remain closed for all students, faculty members, administrative officers and staff on Tuesday, 7 August and Wednesday, 8 August. The university will reopen on Thursday, 9 August, as usual, says the notice undersigned by Mashfiqur Rahman, acting registrar of the university.

The university has also suspended all the examinations and evening classes from August 09 to August 11, according to the notice.

However, meetings of Faculty Recruitment Committee (FRC), Academic Council and Non-Teaching Officers Recruitment Committee (NTORC), will be held as per schedule, it added. 

Meanwhile, Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) also announced to defer its final examinations of Summer 2018 semester which were scheduled to be held from August 5-8, according to a notice.

The examinations scheduled for the four days will be held from August 27-30 respectively, the notice read.

The coordinated examinations for the undergraduate students of School of Business, which were scheduled earlier to be held on August 9 and 11, will now be held on August 31 and September 1 respectively, it added.

Also, Brac University announced to remain close tomorrow for “extended preparation of examination”. The final examinations of Summer semester will begin from Wednesday, August 8, according to a notice.
