Banks in RMG industrial areas to stay open March 9

The central bank has ordered keeping open all bank branches in readymade garments industrial areas on March 9 for paying salaries and allowances to workers of export oriented units.

Bangladesh Bank on Thursday sent a letter to all banks saying that the decision was taken following a request from the Bangladesh Garments Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

The BB letter said the bank branches in Dhaka metropolitan area, Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Chittagong will have to be kept open.
