After five hours of power outage due to failure of the Satmasjid and Agargaon substations, power supply was restored in the capital's Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, and Mirpur areas.

"Power transmission was restored at the substations at 11:00am," said Md Zahangir Alam, a call centre executive of the Dhaka Power Distribution Company.

Meanwhile, power supply was also restored at the 230 kV grid line from Aminbazar-Agargaon, according to a UNB report.

"From our end, power transmission was restored at 10:38 am. But it takes some time to fully restore electricity supply to distribution line," Badruddoza Sumon, public relation officer of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, told UNB.

"We hope, gradually power supply will be restored in all areas," he added.

The Satmasjid and Agargaon grid substations and the 230 kV grid line from Aminbazar-Agargaon failed around 5:50am this morning causing blackouts in parts of Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Mirpur, Agargaon, Shyamoli and adjoining areas in the capital.
