BCC cleaners return to work after Mayor Sadiq's request

Cleaners of Barishal City Corporation (BCC) have returned to work tonight following request of BCC Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah.

Earlier in the evening, the BCC mayor held a press conference at his residence and requested them to return to work.

Soon after his request, the cleaners resumed work, reports our Barishal correspondent.

At the press conference, the mayor also urged police not to harass the cleaners.

Mentionable, BCC cleaners were on work abstention since Wednesday, protesting cases filed against them and the mayor.

BCC employees, earlier today, also protested cases filed against Awami League leaders and the mayor.

They demanded that the cases be withdrawn as civic amenities are being disrupted due to many staff members of the city corporation being accused.

A total of 21 people were arrested till this afternoon in two cases filed in connection with the clashes between leaders, activists of Chhatra League, Jubo League, Awami League and police, Ansar in Barishal.
