Train operations from Dhaka to other destinations across the country, except Narayanganj, have been suspended after some students blocked the rail line at Airport Station in the capital from around 9am today (July 20, 2022).

However, trains are returning to Dhaka.

Khairul Kabir, divisional transport officer (Dhaka) of Bangladesh Railway, confirmed the development.

He said some students, who are supposed to sit for Rajshahi University admission test, halted the operation of Nilsagar Express at Dhaka's Airport Station after not getting tickets.

As a result, no train can go from Kamalapur Station to destinations across the country, except for Narayanganj, he told The Daily Star at 10:45am.

However, trains are returning to Dhaka, he added.

Mazharul Haque, officer-in-charge of Dhaka Railway Police Station said outbound train communication from Dhaka was suspended due to the blockade by the students.

A team of police are on the way, he said.
