Start of MRT-1 construction a new development milestone: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said a new development milestone for Bangladesh has been set today with the inauguration of construction of the country's first underground metro rail.

"I have inaugurated the construction works of the county's first ever underground metro rail some time ago," she told a civic rally at Purbachal in Narayanganj, organised to mark the inauguration of MRT Line 1's construction works.

She said it was a new development for Bangladesh.

"After elevated metro rail, we are now going for underground metro rail," she said.
