Padma Bridge: 3% work remains to be completed in 3 months

Till today, March 31, 2022, the progress of the Padma Bridge work has been 97 percent.

According to the announced timeframe, the remaining 3 percent of the work has to be completed by June 30 of this year -- in 91 days.

The contract value of the main bridge is around Tk 12,494 crore. So far about Tk 11,650 crore has been spent. The progress of financial work (expenditure) is 96.1 percent.

Executive Engineer of Padma Bridge project Dewan Md Abdul Kader shed light on the matter this afternoon.

He said the actual progress of river management work is 90.50 percent and the financial progress is 82.83 percent. The contract value of river management work is Tk 8,972.38 crore. So far, Tk 7,431.94 crore has been spent.

He added that the progress of the remaining waterproofing membrane work of the bridge is 88.67 percent, the carpeting of the main bridge has been 65.68 percent, the progress of lamppost work on the main bridge is 76.52 percent, the progress of gas pipeline work is 99 percent, and the progress of 400 KV power line is 79 percent.

The work of connecting the road and service area has been fully completed. Tk 1,499.51 crore has been allocated in this sector. The total allocation for land acquisition, rehabilitation and environment is Tk 4,342.26 crore. Tk 2,885.36 crore has been allocated for consultants, army security, VAT-income tax, vehicles and salaries and allowances and other sectors. The total expenditure on connecting roads and service areas and land acquisition, rehabilitation, environment and other sectors is Tk 8,071.14 crore.

Regarding the progress, Executive Engineer of Padma Bridge project Dewan Md Abdul Kader further said, the progress of installation of steel lamp posts on the viaduct of the bridge is 57.47 percent. Rainwater drainage pipe installation has progessed by 80 percent.

The total budget of this project is about Tk 30,194 crore, wheras, about Tk 27,153 crore has been spent till March 31. The overall progress of this project is 92 percent.
