Govt sets toll rates for Karnaphuli Tunnel

The government has fixed toll amounts for the underwater Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel in Chattogram, which is set to open in September.

Bridge Division has issued a circular in this regard, Bridge Division Secretary Monjur Hossain confirmed to The Daily Star today.

As per the gazette, a car/jeep/pickup van has to pay Tk 200 for crossing the tunnel while a microbus has to pay Tk 250.

Toll for buses below 31 seats would be Tk 300, buses above 32 seats Tk 400, 3-axle buses Tk 500, trucks (up to 5 tonnes) Tk 400, trucks from 5.01 to 8 tonnes Tk 500, and 8.01-11-tonne trucks Tk 600.

Trailers (3 axles) have to pay Tk 800, trailers (4 axles) Tk 1,000 and Tk 200 for each axle above 4 axles, it added.
