Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) expressed outrage and strongly condemned the attack on journalists while they were covering the news of war criminal Delawar Hossain Sayedee's death yesterday.

They also demanded that the attackers are identified and justice is ensured, said a joint statement.

BFUJ President Omar Faruq and its Secretary General Dip Azad, DUJ President Sohel Haider Chowdhury and its General Secretary Akhter Hossain issued the statement today.

They said, "Those who have attacked journalists are enemies of liberation and independence."

According to the statement, individuals associated with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami carried out the attack on the journalists, who in their report called Sayedee a war criminal.

Yesterday, four journalists, covering the news of war criminal Delawar Hossain Sayedee's death, were injured in an attack by a mob at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University yesterday.

They are senior reporter Shawkat Manjur Shanto from Jamuna TV, video journalist Mahfuzur Rahman Mithu, Bishwanath Sarker, RTV's reporter Sheikh Farid, and video journalist Ayatullah Manik.

"We believe that those who lack faith in the country's independence, the Liberation War, and the verdict of the highest court are traitors," the journalist leaders said in the statement.
