A candlelight vigil was held in Savar today as relatives, and leaders and activists of different labour organisations remembered the victims of the Rana Plaza tragedy.

The memorial programme was held in the evening at the base of the temporary Rana Plaza monument to mark the 10-year anniversary of the industrial disaster.

At least 1,136 people were killed and over 2,500 were injured when Rana Plaza collapsed on April 24, 2013.

Attendees of the programme converged at the site of the building collapse and observed a one-minute silence in honour of all the victims, reports our Savar correspondent.

Workers, who were injured in the disaster, were present and pressed home their four-point demand: Providing compensation and life time rehabilitation for the workers affected by the Rana Plaza tragedy, bringing all those responsible for the Rana Plaza incident to justice, reforming the country's labour laws to enact worker-friendly laws, and providing free medical treatment and government allowances to injured workers in all industrial sectors of the country.
