BNP's leaders and activists started their road march programme at 11:30am today to press home their one-point demand for polls under a non-party interim government on the streets.

They started the march from Gabtoli's SA Khalek Bus Counter area. They will end the march at Roy Shaheb Baazar intersection in the capital.

The procession and the large gathering has caused traffic congestion in Gabtoli and surrounding areas.

This morning, The Daily Star correspondent found that party men had gathered in the Gabtoli area from various wards around 9:00am. Thousands of activists carrying banners, posters, and placards chanted anti-government slogans. Trucks and pickups accompanied the marchers as the procession began.

Before the march started, BNP's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "The Awami League government has taken away the rights of the people of Bangladesh. It is crucial to remove Sheikh Hasina's unlawful government by demanding her resignation."
