BNP leader Ishraque Hossain was attacked allegedly by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League near Jagannath University (JnU) when he was distributing leaflets this afternoon.

Ishraque alleged that he and other activists of his party were distributing leaflets for BNP's December 10 rally when BCL men carrying iron rods attacked them, leaving several of his party men injured.

"At least four of them were admitted to the hospital. They also beat me up and vandalised my vehicle," Ishraque told reporters after the incident.

S M Akter Hussain, general secretary of JnU unit of BCL, said a scuffle took place between BNP men and BCL activists as Ishraque was giving instigating speeches about Awami League leaders.
