BNP, this noon (August 4, 2022), called off the dawn-to-dusk hartal in Bhola – considering public suffering.

The party made the announcement during a press briefing around 12:30pm, reports our Barishal correspondent.

The hartal was being observed in protest of the death of Noor-e-Alam, president of Bhola Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, following a clash between police and BNP men on July 31, 2022.

The hartal started in the morning and continued till about 12pm.

Most of the shops in the town remained shut and only rickshaws were seen plying the road during the strike.

Noor-e-Alam, who was shot during the clash, died at 3 pm on Wednesday (August 3, 2022) at Dhaka's Comfort Hospital. With him, the death from the clash stood at two.
