3 truck drivers fined for transporting motorcycles on Padma Bridge

Three truck drivers have been fined for transporting motorcycles on the Padma Bridge.

The fine was imposed this afternoon (July 6, 2022) after they were detained from the Mawa toll plaza area of the bridge, our Munshiganj correspondent reports quoting Md Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Padma Bridge North Police Station.

Among those fined are, Md Mamun, Rajiv Hossain, Md Alamgir. A case has been filed against them.

The OC of Padma Bridge North Police Station said three truck drivers carrying motorcycles showed up at the Mawa toll plaza to cross the bridge defying the ban on motorcycles.

On-duty policemen detained the trio and handed them over to traffic police, the OC said, adding that each truck driver was fined for Tk 3000.

Earlier on June 26, Bangladesh Bridge Authority banned motorbikes on Padma Bridge from 6am of June 27 until further notice.
