Tiger visits forest office in Sundarbans

Once again, a wild tiger has been seen roaming leisurely on the premises of a forest department office in the Sundarbans.

A forest guard named Mostak Ahmed filmed the tiger at the Kachikhali Sanctuary Office of Sarankhola Range and uploaded the video on social media on Thursday.

Mostak told reporters that after he woke up in the morning on Tuesday, he saw the tiger right in front of the barracks.

"I was startled by the tiger. After taking in the initial shock, I started filming the magnificent animal with my phone. After a while, the tiger walked towards the forest," he said.

The over 1-minute video has since gone viral on social media.

Mahabub Hossain, assistant conservator of forests (ACF) of Sarankhola Range, Sundarban East Forest Division, said three tigers, including a cub, were seen in the area before.

Tigers are roaming freely because of the strict implementation of conservation measures, and that might be the reason behind the frequent sightings of these elusive animals, he added.

The number of tigers have increased in the forest as the forest department has ensured a safe habitat for them, he claimed.

On February 3, three tigers were spotted roaming in the Chandeshwar Forest Office area of Supati Station in the Sarankhola Range of Sundarban.

The forest guards reported that the tigers roamed around the office area for more than 20 hours.
