SC's judicial functions suspended in honour of TH Khan

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique has suspended all judicial functions of the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court for today, showing respect to eminent jurist Justice Mohammad Tafazzal Hossain Khan.

The SC administration issued a notification to this effect.

Justice Tafazzal Hossain Khan, popularly known as TH Khan, a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, passed away yesterday at a Dhaka hospital due to cardiac failure. He was 102.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Supreme Court premises today at 11:30am. Later, another janaza will take place at his residence in Mohammadpur.

He will be buried at his ancestral village Outi under Haluaghat of Mymensingh.

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique expressed deep shock at the death of the senior jurist.

Besides, the pro-BNP Nationalist Lawyers Forum and Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association in separate messages expressed deep shock at the news of his passing.

TH Khan was the founding president of the nationalist lawyers' forum.

Moreover, he was a former minister, an elected parliamentarian from BNP, and vice-chairman of the political party.

Born on October 21, 1920, in Haluaghat, TH Khan started his career as a lawyer in 1947.
