Robotics Olympiad held in Bogura for first time

National Academy for Computer Training and Research (NACTAR) organised "NACTAR Robotics Olympiad-22" for the first time in Bogura yesterday.

Around 331 participants, divided into 106 teams from 49 educational institutions, participated in the competitions in four categories -- Robo Soccer, Line Following Robotics Competition, Project Showcasing, and Poster Presentation.

The contest was held on the NACTAR premises in Bogura's Fultala area. Contestants were of  two groups -- grade five to twelve and the university level.

Students of renowned universities -- including Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), Dhaka University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and North South University (NSU) participated in the event.

Besides, students from many local institutions participated and exchanged their skills and experiences with university students.

Md Shafiul Islam, director of NACTAR, Bogura, said they organised this olympiad to introduce youngsters to technology. "Next time, we'll increase the number of categories," he said.

Md Mohsin, additional secretary of Technical and Madrasha Education Division of the education ministry, was present at the programme as chief guest. The winning team will get prize money of Tk 85,000 (Robo Soccer), Tk 60,000 (Line Following Robotics Competition), Tk 60,000 (Project Showcase-Senior), Tk 35,000 (Project Showcase-Junior), Tk 35,000 (Poster Presentation-Senior) and Tk 18,000 (Poster Presentation-Junior).
