Padma rail link inauguration: PM reaches Bhanga on special train

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Bhanga from Mawa on a special train this afternoon after inaugurating the Dhaka-Bhanga rail line via Padma Bridge today.    

The train reached Bhanga station at 1:55pm and she left the train at 1:59pm. She is scheduled to join a political rally at Bhanga organised by Faridpur District Awami League at 2:00pm.

The prime minister offered prayers after boarding the train and later exchanged pleasantries with co-passengers of the maiden train journey on the Dhaka-Padma Bridge -Bhanga route.

Earlier. Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and other family members collected tickets from the ticket booths at Mawa station at 12:53pm.

The PM later waved the green flag and blew a ceremonial whistle before entering the special train for a ride from Mawa station to Bhanga.

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, other cabinet members and dignitaries accompanied her.

The beautifully decorated train started its journey at 12:59pm from Mawa.
