Justice Amir Hossain passes away

Justice Amir Hossain, a sitting judge of the High Court and the International Crimes Tribunal, passed away at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka yesterday. He was 64.

A freedom fighter, Justice Hossain died at 8am while undergoing treatment at the hospital. He left behind his wife, two daughters, a son and a host of admirers to mourn his death.

The Supreme Court administration suspended all judicial functions for yesterday in honour of Justice Hossain.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Law Minister Anisul Huq expressed profound shock at the death. His namaz-e-janaza was held at Supreme Court Bar Association at 2pm yesterday, attended by the chief justice, attorney general, judges and SCBA members, among others.

He was buried at his family graverayd in Nikli of Kishoreganj.
