Four platoons of BGB deployed in Cumilla

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed in Cumilla this evening to prevent any untoward incident centring the reported "demeaning of the Holy Quran".

Four platoons of BGB personnel were deployed this evening, reports our Cumilla correspondent quoting Lt Cornel Golam Fazle Rabbi, commanding officer of BGB-10 Battalion.

An unrest situation has been prevailing at Nanua Dighirpar area in Cumilla after reports emerged of an incident where the Holy Quran was "demeaned".

Following the incident, organisers decided not to hold Durga puja there. But in the meantime, situation had become tense in the area.
