EWU holds virtual convocation

The 20th convocation of East West University (EWU) was held virtually yesterday. As representative of the President, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni conferred degrees among graduates at the programme.

In this convocation, a total of 1,551 graduates from both undergraduate and graduate programmes received certificates. Besides, two graduates were awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for their excellent academic performance, said a press release.

Md Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, was present at the convocation as special guest, while Prof Biswajit Chanda, member, Bangladesh University Grants Commission, was the convocation speaker.

In addition, Syed Manzur Elahi, chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU; Prof Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor of EWU; and Prof MM Shahidul Hassan, Vice-Chancellor, EWU, also delivered their speeches on the occasion, the press release added.

During her speech, Dr Dipu Moni said the education system has to be upgraded to adapt to the changing demands of the world, citing the requirements brought about by the ongoing pandemic.

Members of the university's Board of Trustees, pro-VC, treasurer, deans, department chairs, faculty members, officers, staff, graduates, and their guardians attended yesterday's convocation, the press release said.
