Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the real revenge of the August 15, 1975 carnage will be ensured when each and every Bangladeshi has a better life. The PM also vowed to hold trials of perpetrators and those who did the groundwork for killing Bangabandhu.

"We can take the real revenge of the killing (of the Father of the Nation along with his most of the family members in August 15, 1975) on the day when we can ensure a developed and beautiful life to the people of Bangladesh by giving them access to food, cloth, accommodation, education and treatment," Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, told a virtual discussion marking the National Mourning Day and the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu.

Awami League organised the discussion at the party's central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

"It was really crucial to hold the trials of the killings first which had been done. The people who were involved in the conspiracy will be unearthed one day," she added.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader gave the welcome address while Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, MP, conducted the discussion.

Presidium members and top leaders of the party spoke on the occasion, among others

At the beginning of the programme, a one-minute silence was observed in respect of the memory of the martyrs of the August 15, 1975 carnage.
