BSF picks up 2 Bangladeshi madrasa students, hands them over after 5hrs in Dinajpur

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) today picked up two Bangladeshi madrasa students when they crossed the zero-line at the border in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur, said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

"Five hours after picking them up, BSF handed the two boys over to BGB around 5:30 pm," said  Subedar Md Alam, BGB company commander at Hili Check Post, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

The two students are Md Ruhul Amin (13), an eighth-grader and 10th-grader Rifat Hossain Shanto (15) of Alihat Gazi Aminia Madrasa in the upazila.

According to locals, Amin and Shanto went to Hakimpur to get their Covid-19 vaccine this morning. After receiving their vaccines at the Importers and Exporters Group office in the Hili, they went to the zero-line area (Port area) to visit the border out of curiosity and were caught by BSF.

After being informed of the matter BGB members held a flag meeting with BSF around 4:45 pm, said Subedar Alam.

 "We sent documents of two boys as evidence that they were students which the BSF troops accepted and handed them over of us," added Alam.
