Bandarban UNO, who broke trophies, transferred to Dhaka division

Mehruba Islam, the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Bandarban's Alikadam, who broke trophies of a local football tournament, has been transferred to Dhaka division.

Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification yesterday (September 26, 2022) in this regard.

On September 23, UNO Mehruba Islam participated in the prize distribution ceremony of a football competition in Alikadam. She broke the trophies of the champion and runner-up teams during the programme.

A video of the incident captured by the locals went viral on social media, triggering criticism. 

Local public representatives said there was a protest in Alikadam on September 24 demanding the withdrawal of the UNO following the incident.
