Brahmanbaria-2 MP Abdus Sattar passes away

Brahmanbari-2 lawmaker Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan died at a hospital in Dhaka early today. He was 84.

He breathed his last at 3:02am at Evercare Hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for the last one week.

Confirming his death, Abdus Sattar's son Mainul Hasan Tushar said his father was suffering from kidney disease for a long time.

Abdul Sattar, a six-time elected Member of Parliament, was born on January 16, 1939 at Parmanandpur village under Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila.

He was also a former advisor to the BNP Chairperson and state minister for law, fisheries and lands.

Abdus Sattar was an elected lawmaker from Brahmanbaria and Cumilla as a BNP candidate for five times, including the 11th parliamentary election held in 2018.

He resigned from BNP on December 11, 2022.

Abdus Sattar again won Brahmanbaria-2 by-elections as an independent candidate this year.
