Body of 11-year old help recovered from Khilkhet

Police recovered body of an 11-year-old girl from a house in Dhaka's Khilkhet area this afternoon.

The deceased Papia was a house help of a flat on the ninth floor of a building at Lake City Concord.

The girl went to the bathroom around 11:00am and locked herself inside.

As she did not respond despite repeated attempt, her employer, an elderly woman, informed the building's security guard and the girl's family members who live nearby, said Munshi Sabbir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Khilkhet Police Station, quoting the woman.

They broke open the door and found the body hanging with scarf from the ventilator, he added.

On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body this afternoon and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.

Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury, an uncle of the deceased, said Papia's family used to live near the Lake City Concord area. Two years back, she was employed at the house of a government official to look after her mother.
