Bekutia Bridge named “Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge”

The much-awaited bridge over Kacha river in Pirojpur has been named Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge.

The bridge has been constructed at Bekutia point of the Rajapur-Noikathi-Bekutia-Pirojpur highway under Roads and Highways Department.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually inaugurate the bridge on September 4.

RHD in October 2017 undertook the project to build the bridge over the Kacha river. Currently, people have to use ferries to cross the river.

The bridge will not only establish Pirojpur's direct connection with Barishal city, but it will also connect Barishal with Khulna.
