Army Chief takes charge as Colonel Commandant of Armoured Corps

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed today officially took charge as the eighth Colonel Commandant of Armoured Corps of the Bangladesh Army.

He took over the charge at an inaugural ceremony of the Colonel Commandant of the Armoured Corps in accordance with the military tradition and customs at the Shaheed Lt Badiuzzaman Parade Ground of the Armoured Corps Centre Grand School in Majhira Cantonment in Bogura, said an Inter-Services Public-Relations (ISPR) press release.

At the ceremony, the Senior Commander of Armoured Corps and Master Warrant Officer adorned the Army Chief with the rank badge of 'Colonel Commandant' of the Armoured Corps.

Apart from senior officers of the Bangladesh Army, senior officers of the Armoured Corps and representatives of the Armoured Units and members of various ranks in the Bogura area were present during the occasion.

At the training centre, the Army Chief received a 'Guard of Honour' by a team of the Armoured Corps.

The Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed attended the 41st Annual Conference of the Armoured Corps after being adorned with the rank badge.

He made introductory remarks to the commanders and other officers of the Armoured Corps units who joined the conference and exchanged views on the development of the Armoured Corps, enhancement of professional skills and activities conducted at home and abroad.

The Chief of Army Staff highlighted the glorious tradition of the Armoured Corps and its contribution to the service of the country and called upon all its members to be prepared to cope with the challenges of the 21st century by acquiring skills through modern and time-befitting trainings.
