Anwarul Islam’s death anniversary

Today is the 28th death anniversary of Anwarul Islam Bobby, who played an important role in founding different newspapers.

He was the first Bangali to be secretary general of All Pakistan Newspapers Society before the Liberation War, said a press release.

After independence, he helped Sheikh Fazlul Haq Moni in founding The Bangladesh Times and Banglar Bani.  Later, he founded The Daily Life, the first local English daily from Chattogram; The Pulse, a medical weekly; and The Morning Sun (now defunct).
