5 special HC benches to dispose of old bail petitions

The chief justice has constituted five special High Court benches in order to hear and dispose of the old bail petitions which have been filed till last year under Section 498 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The division (two-judges) benches will sit at 2:00pm tomorrow and will hear and dispose of or accept the petitions till 4:15pm, the chief justice said in a notification issued today.

The HC benches are of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Sashanka Shekhar Sarkar; of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq; of Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das; of Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury and Justice Mohammad Ali; and of Justice Md Salim and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan, according to the notification.
