Residents of city corporation areas will benefit if 'city court' established: LGRD minister

People living in city corporation areas will have access to justice quickly and will benefit if "city court" is established, LGRD Minister Tajul Islam said today.

"People who live in cities have to resort to courts to settle petty disputes. As such if 'city court' is established in city corporations, they will get justice quickly," said the minister at a virtual dialogue titled "City Court Act: Proposed Outline and Possibility of Implementation".

A presentation was made on the outline of the city court law proposal and the possibility of its implementation.

The minister said the demand to establish "city court" like "village court" is logical.

No matter what village or city courts do, if transparency and accountability are not ensured, the expected goal will not be achieved, Tajul added.
