Pay city tax to continue business: Atiqul to hotel owners

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam today urged all hotel owners including the five-star hotels to pay city taxes.

While addressing a meeting with three-, four-, and five-star hotel owners at the Nagar Bhaban at Gulshan, the mayor said according to the city corporation ideal tax schedule 2016, they are bound to provide taxes to the city corporation under the service areas of the corporation.

The mayor threatened to deny permission to any hotel owners to operate their businesses, claiming that despite prior letters being sent to them, they ignored them.

Meanwhile, according to the city corporation ideal tax schedule 2016, there is a provision of taking highest five percent tax from the rent of a hotel room in city corporation areas.
