Bangladesh Police to get 2 Russian helicopters

Government is going to buy two helicopters from Russia for Bangladesh Police.

The approval was given today at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

According to a statement issued by the finance ministry, police department under the Department of Public Security has approved in principle the purchase -- on G2G basis -- of two helicopters from the state-owned JSC Russian Helicopters.

Besides, at the meeting of the Public Procurement Committee, the Department of Food, under the Ministry of Food, has approved the import of one lakh metric tonnes of wheat from the Russian Federation on a G2G basis at a cost of Tk 357 crore 61 lakh and 65 thousand.

Shamsul Arefin, additional secretary in the Cabinet department, said wheat would be bought at USD 419 per tonne.

Petrobangla under the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources approved the import of 33 lakh 60 thousand MMBTU LNG from M/S. Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore at a total cost of TK 1,205 crore 72 lakh 81 thousand. The price per MMBTU will be USD 35.89.

In addition, import of 33 lakh 60 thousand MMBTU LNG from Gunvor Singapore Pte Ltd was approved at a total cost of TK 1,241 crore 22 lakh 82 thousand. The cost per MMBTU will be USD 36.95.
